Behind the Landscape on Alaska's Politics & Culture

Local LGBT community supports child molestation and sexual assault in the Boy Scouts of America.

AK INSIDER has it that the Alaska and Anchorage LGBT community should vigorously show their support in denying gay scout leaders into the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), keeping them away from influencing susceptible minors and applauding the BSA for banning gay scout leaders from the BSA.

A recent scout leader on the Boy Scouts’ “confidential file” — its list of those on probation or banned from Scouting; “admitted that he had participated in acts of perversion with several troop members.” —

The BSA has recently come under fire after releasing records of alleged child molestation cases going back as far as the 1950’s. The BSA took action and banned thousands of gay scout leaders. The cases in the national media are equal in scale to the indiscretions that occurred in the Catholic Church a few years ago.

AK INSIDER says this negative news is a blow-back on the BSA for denying gay scout leaders into their organization; LGBT community welcomes damaging and awful national news on the BSA image.

For years the LGBT community claimed discrimination on the BSA for its policies against gay scout leaders. They aggressively pursued allowing gay scout leaders to be a part of an all-male membership of adolescents. However, the attention to these incidents may actually help the BSA in their arguments to keep gay scout leaders out of their organization.

Statistics show the gay population in America may be growing as indicated by the rise in gay marriages, adoptions and public openness. Can this increase awareness be a result from the large number of gay child abuse and sexual assault cases rising out of the incidents in the Catholic Church and BSA going back decades?

Studies allege that some gay exposure begins at a young age through adolescence. Some gay adults will say they became gay because of their early experiences and exposure to a gay mentor, friend or relative.

Gay/lesbian respondents had higher odds of exposure to child abuse. Exposure to victimization in early-life family and romantic relationships explains, in part, sexual orientation disparities (1). — medical survey (1)

Why would a gay adult want to be around an all male member organization? Only male minors are members of the BSA supervised and guided by adult scout leaders and all BSA sex molestation cases are gay related. If the LGBT communities and the One Anchorage Initiative supporters and sponsors former Governor Tony Knowles and former Republican and Legislator Arliss Sturgulewski support gay scout leaders interacting among our youth in a private organization, then they may well be supporting sexual molestation, sexual and child abuse in Alaska and in this nation.
